Opinion Writing

    I think cashless societies are a good idea. There are two reasons.

   First, It can shorten the time it takes to pay. If we pay in cash, we have to count the money. There are types of money such as bills and coins, so we need a lot of time to pay. It also leads to a long line in front of the cash register. Quick accounting reduces the burden on people.

   Second, it is hygienic. Bills and coins are reused, so countless people are touching it. There may be fungus on it. It's very unsanitary.

   However, in my opinion, it takes long time to become cashless society in Japan. There are many types of cashless payments, and the usage is complicated. Japan is aging society, so elderly people may not be able to master it. 

   Cashless societies are good idea, but I believe there is still room for improvement.
